Filtering Options




Subject


Filter emails by their subject:

EQUALS - Any emails whose subject matches exactly the text input will be included.



CONTAINS - Any emails whose subject contains the text input will be included.



STARTS WITH - Any emails whose subject begins with the text input will be included.



REGEXP - Allows you to use Regular Expressions to filter subject lines. Regular Expressions are a common way for engineers and researchers to perform advanced searches (such as “all subjects containing ‘alert’ or anything between brackets ‘[]’ → You would use a REGEXP such as “alert|[*]”)

Data Studio Regular Expression works the same way as in Google Analytics. Full documentation can be found in this Google help article.



IN - Filter for any number of whole email subjects, separated by commas. Any subjects which match them exactly will be included.




Gmail Label



UNREAD - Any email which has not been read or has been marked as unread will be included.

TRASH - Any email which has been deleted will be included (emails deleted prior to the installation of Email Meter cannot be included).

STARRED - Any email marked as starred will be included.

SPAM - Any email in the spam folder is included, whether sent there automatically or marked after.

SENT - Only emails found in the sent folder are included.

INBOX - Only emails found in the inbox are included.

IMPORTANT - Any emails marked as important are included.

CATEGORY_UPDATES - Any emails found in the Updates category are included.

CATEGORY_SOCIAL - Any emails found in the Social category are included.

CATEGORY_PROMOTIONS - Any emails found in the Promotions category are included.

CATEGORY_PERSONAL - Any emails found in the Personal category are included.


Internal/External



INTERNAL - Any emails which are internal (‘from:’ address and all recipients including CC’s and BCC’s belonging to your domain) are included.

EXTERNAL - Any emails which are external (if the ‘from:’ address or at least one recipient including CC’s and BCC’s is not from your domain) are included.


Automated



True - Any emails which are counted as automated (from an automated system which generates emails without human intervention, for example out-of-office replies, newsletters, etc.) are included.

False - Any emails which are counted as automated are excluded.


Note: Our Automated detection is limited to the information present in email headers. While we try to identify all autoresponders and emails coming from automated systems, not all emails are always identified correctly. Feel free to share feedback with us about this feature.



Address (from)



Check addresses to include emails which have been sent FROM that address.


Customer (from)



Check domains to include emails which have been sent FROM that domain.


Address (To, CC, BCC)



Check addresses to include emails which have been sent TO that address (including in the CC and BCC field).


Customer (To, CC, BCC)



Check domains to include emails which have been sent TO to that domain (including in the CC and BCC field).
